Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) and Fire Island Ferries are pleased to announce that construction of FIRE ISLAND MAID, Fire Island Ferries' newest ferry, is complete. The ferry was designed by EBDG and built by Metal Shark at their Bayou La Batre, Alabama shipyard.

David Turner has been appointed as a Representative to the National Commercial Fishing Safety Advisory Committee to represent the viewpoint of naval architects and marine engineers. The Committee provides valuable assistance to the Department of Homeland Security on matters related to commercial fishing vessel safety.
