Tank Barges
EBDG excels in designing various types of tank barges, specializing in multi-cargo, hazardous cargo, and specialty equipment applications. Our deep understanding of safety regulations, including OPA 90 and MARPOL, combined with strong relationships with ABS and the US Coast Guard, ensures efficient certification processes. Our designs feature advanced systems for vapor control, inerting, cargo transfer, and more. Plus, EBDG designed barges are supported by extensive towing tank test data. Our comprehensive construction support services which range from detail design to 3D pipe routing, guarantee robust and reliable tank barge solutions.
15,000 BBL Tank Barge
EBDG designed the 216’, 15,000-barrel tank barge, GLOBAL PILOT to ✠A1 ABS classification. The barge features a centralized hydraulic system to power the cargo pumps, crane and the anchor winch. Design features include a well-appointed tankerman's office and partially recessed aft machinery space. There are eight tanks onboard the barge and cargo is transferred at 2,000 barrels per hour. In addition to contract design, EBDG assisted in shipyard bidding and selection and supported the winning shipyard with complete functional and detail design, construction and regulatory submittal support.
31,500 BBL Tank Barge
EBDG designed a 241’, 31,500-barrel tank barge to ABS ✠A1 classification. Six barges of this design are in operation across the United States. In addition to the contract design, EBDG worked with the shipyards to provide detail engineering. The large deckhouse structure located at the forward collision bulkhead incorporates the tankerman's office and spill response storage, while providing unobstructed vision of the entire cargo deck area. This arrangement provides substantial protection from the weather and enables rapid deployment of the spill containment boom. For added crew safety, piping is set as low to the deck as possible, while still permitting maintenance.
38,500 BBL Tank Barge
EBDG designed a 279’, 38,500-barrel tank barge, DUGAN PEARSALL to ABS ✠A1 classification. This vessel prioritizes crew safety and environmental protection, with swift cargo discharge and loading rates of 5,000 barrels per hour. Advanced features include vapor recovery systems and a reliable cargo pump. This barge offers unparalleled versatility and performance, setting a new standard for sustainable maritime transportation.
83,000 BBL Tank Barge
EBDG designed a 422’, 83,000-barrel tank barge, 65 ROSES to ABS ✠A1 classification. The barge boasts a sophisticated cargo heating and vapor recovery system and offers impressive performance, including main cargo discharge/loading rates of 5,000 barrel/HR and 10,000 barrel/HR respectively. The design integrates forward storage lockers, a tankerman's office, and an optional ATB stern rake configuration, embodying efficiency and adaptability for marine transportation needs.
402’ Rail Car Tank Barge
EBDG designed a 402’ combination rail car, caustic soda and black oil barge, HARRY MERLO. The double-hulled barge has 12 tanks onboard with a capacity of 27,500 barrels of fuel oil and 13,100 barrels of caustic cargo. The deck of the barge has four rail car tracks and can carry up to six 40' trailers on each track.
