114,000 BBL Spill Response Barge
EBDG designed a series of 114,000-barrel oil spill response barges for operation in Alaska. A total of four barges have been built to the design to date. The barges have an overall length of 400', beam of 96' and depth of 28' and are specifically designed to meet the rigorous ship escort-response vessel system (SERVS) requirement for Prince William Sound. Design features include accommodations for 12 crew, two high-capacity skimmer cranes, a water segregating cargo management system and approximately 14,000 square feet of unobstructed deck space for boom management and deployment.
EBDG developed the complete contract and functional design drawing and document package. EBDG also managed the submittal and engineering liaison process with the US Coast Guard and the American Bureau of Shipping.
13,000 BBL Spill Response Barge
EBDG provided contract design, regulatory design, and lofting services for the 13,600-barrel oil spill response barge (OSRB) ALLISON CREEK, built for operation in Alaska. The barge measures 200 feet in length, 42 feet in beam, 16 feet in depth, and has a full load draft of 13 feet. It is classified under ABS A1 Class Unmanned Oil Spill Recovery – Standby Class 1 Barge (OSR-S1) for US Domestic Service, constructed by Dakota Creek Industries. The barge features four main cargo tank pairs with hydraulically driven deep well pumps and four on-deck containers for oil spill recovery equipment. EBDG's precise design and regulatory compliance support ensured the vessel's efficient assembly and readiness, enhancing Alaska's oil spill response capabilities and environmental protection.
