Pierce County

EBDG designed Pierce County’s two passenger vehicle ferries, CHRISTINE ANDERSON and STEILACOOM II that serve Anderson and Ketron Islands in Washington State's South Puget Sound. Over our long-standing and successful relationship dating back to 1988, we have assisted with numerous projects including new vessel design and construction oversight, maintenance and repair management, transportation analysis, and hybrid feasibility studies.

EBDG’s Scope

STEILACOOM II

EBDG was selected by Pierce County as part of a transportation planning study to examine the future ferry needs for the County through the year 2020. As a result of that study, we were selected to design a double-ended passenger/vehicle ferry to retire their existing vessel, the STEILACOOM, built in 1932. The contract design was completed in late 2004, and the vessel was delivered in January 2007.

CHRISTINE ANDERSON

EBDG provided preliminary design, contract design, construction liaison and post-delivery support. EBDG was also involved in the commissioning and operational dock and sea trials.
